Bursary Program Graduates 150 Students
We're proud to announce that 150 students from local communities have successfully graduated through our education bursary program this year. These bright minds are now pursuing careers in engineering, mining, and environmental sciences, contributing to South Africa's future. The program has invested R12 million in education this year alone, supporting families and building sustainable communities around our operations.
Mobile Health Clinic Reaches 5,000 Community Members
Our mobile health clinic initiative has successfully provided healthcare services to over 5,000 community members in remote areas around our mining operations. The clinic offers free medical consultations, vaccinations, and health education programs. This month, we've expanded services to include maternal health support and chronic disease management, ensuring no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare.
Environmental Rehabilitation Project Wins National Award
Sibanye-Stillwater's mine rehabilitation project has been recognized with the National Environmental Excellence Award. Our innovative approach to land restoration has successfully transformed 500 hectares of former mining land into thriving ecosystems. The project includes indigenous plant restoration, wildlife corridors, and sustainable agriculture training for local communities, creating lasting environmental and economic benefits.
Local Supplier Development Program Creates 200 Jobs
Our Local Supplier Development Program has successfully created 200 new jobs in surrounding communities. By partnering with local businesses and providing training, mentorship, and guaranteed contracts, we're building a sustainable economic ecosystem. This quarter, we've onboarded 15 new local suppliers, with a combined contract value of R45 million, directly benefiting over 500 families.
Youth Sports Development League Championship
The annual Sibanye-Stillwater Youth Sports League concluded with an exciting championship weekend. Over 800 young athletes from 24 schools participated in football, netball, and athletics competitions. Beyond sports, the program includes life skills training, career guidance, and academic support. Congratulations to all participants - you are the champions of tomorrow!
Cultural Heritage Preservation Initiative
We're proud to support the preservation of local cultural heritage through our partnership with traditional leaders and cultural organizations. This initiative includes documenting oral histories, supporting traditional crafts, and creating cultural centers that celebrate the rich heritage of our communities. Together, we're ensuring that cultural traditions are preserved for future generations while creating economic opportunities for artisans and cultural practitioners.
